Resumen: Este art铆culo se desprende de la confrontaci贸n de dos estudios que se desarrollaron de manera complementaria y consecutiva a lo largo de 2005 y 2006 con el objetivo de ilustrar el estado actual del proceso de formaci贸n de los educadores sociales. En ambos casos se utilizaron m茅todos de investigaci贸n discursivos. En el primero de ellos, las voces principales estuvieron conformadas por cuatro experimentados educadores que, sin poseer expl铆citamente el t铆tulo de Educaci贸n Social, ven铆an desarrollando tareas socio-educativas en el 谩mbito de Reforma Juvenil. Un a帽o despu茅s se graduaba en la Universidad de M谩laga la primera promoci贸n de educadores sociales. De aquella circunstancia sugiri贸 la posibilidad de realizar un segundo estudio que finalmente se concret贸 en un an谩lisis sobre el car谩cter formativo de la titulaci贸n de Diplomado en Educaci贸n Social. Para ello, se tom贸 como referencia los testimonios de cuatro protagonistas que hab铆an vivido dicho proceso. En sendas inmersiones, se plantearon cuatro temas relacionados con su 谩mbito de formaci贸n: formaci贸n inicial, formaci贸n permanente, formaci贸n espec铆fica y formaci贸n en habilidades sociales y emocionales. El producto de la confrontaci贸n de las evidencias y las distintas teor铆as tuvieron como resultado el desarrollo de tres informes: T煤 no eres un hombre orquesta, Formaci贸n integral, competencia profesional y La titulaci贸n es s贸lo una parte de un proceso continuo de formaci贸n. Las ideas alcanzadas con este trabajo no tienen consideraci贸n de meta, sino m谩s bien de puntos de partida. En ese sentido, las in-conclusiones han de ilustrar nuevas v铆as para continuar investigando de manera m谩s concreta sobre los elementos puestos en crisis. Abstract: This article is the result of contrasting two complementary consecutive studies performed in 2005 and 2006. The research goal was to illustrate the current state of the social educator training process. In both cases discursive methodologies were used. In the first study, the data were collected from four experienced educators who, despite holding no specific qualifications in social education, were engaged in socio-educational work with youth offenders. A year later the first crop of social educators graduated from the University of M谩laga. The circumstance suggested the possibility of a second study, which finally materialized as an analysis of the training process for earning a social education diploma. The testimonies of four students who had gone through the said process were taken as references for the second study. In both studies four topics were set related with the social educator training system: initial training, continuous training, specific training and social and emotional ability training. The evidence was contrasted with the various theories, resulting in the production of three reports: «You Are Not a One-Man Band», «Comprehensive Training, Professional Competence» and «The Degree Is Only Part of a Continuous Training Process». The ideas proposed in this project are not looked on as a goal, but as a starting point. The non-conclusions should shed light on new ways to carry out more precise research on the issues in question.
